What’s Happening:

President Trump made a major promise during his 2016 campaign to end corruption within the government, or to “drain the swamp.” It’s become so common for government officials to bend the law to benefit themselves, it almost seemed as if Americans were okay with it.

But since Trump took over the presidency—and appointed tough prosecutors and investigators within the DOJ—things began to happen. Over the last few years, we’ve learned about how the FBI has arrested leaders in state and local governments for various crimes (see the former mayor of Baltimore).

Now, we are learning about yet another major sting, involving 1/3 of the leadership of a major U.S. city:

The FBI on Tuesday arrested a local attorney and four members of the city council in Toledo, Ohio, for their alleged participation in a bribery and extortion scheme…

 “As alleged in the Complaint, four Toledo City Council members and a local attorney have been engaged in a pay-to-play scheme involving bribes for Council votes,” U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman said in a statement to Fox News Wednesday. “Maintaining the public’s trust in its elected officials is one of the Department of Justice’s core responsibilities.”

According to the charges, four members of Toledo’s city council, along with a local attorney, were given benefits in exchange for votes. The FBI is saying they accepted cash, checks, and other items of value from local business owners. All so they could influence these leaders’ votes.

It appears all too often politicians trade their influence to get rich quick. The temptation to abuse their power for monetary gain seems too great to resist. This happens so often on the local level, with repercussions felt across communities.

Citizens of Toledo should ask how many recent laws were passed because businesses were allegedly bribing these council members. One-third of the council is enough to sway close votes. Major legislation, which could have affected the lives of residents, might have been impacted because of this “pay-to-play” scheme.

Yet another question must be raised, in light of this news: how many more city council members, across the entire country, are engaged in similar schemes? If leaders from this Ohio town are doing it, what about leaders in larger cities like San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and more?

Such a development is a reminder to all Americans that our democracy must be defended and that only leaders who promise to protect law and order just be elected.

Dr. Anthony Fauci confirmed Friday the idea of Americans carrying “certificates of immunity” is being considered as a possibility to identify people who have been infected with the coronavirus and help reopen the U.S. economy in the coming weeks.

“Can you imagine a time where Americans carry certificates of immunity?” CNN “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota asked Fauci during an interview Friday.

“You know, that’s possible,” Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, replied.

“It’s one of those things that we talk about when we want to make sure that we know who the vulnerable people are and not.”

He added, “This is something that’s being discussed. I think it might actually have some merit, under certain circumstances.”

The proposal is contingent on the success of widespread antibody testing, which Fauci said could be available in “a week or so.”

“If their antibody test is positive, one can formulate strategies about whether or not they would be at risk or vulnerable to getting re-infected,” Fauci said.

Americans are in real need right now, and almost everyone agrees we need big relief bills to stem the damage.

And it looks like Nancy Pelosi is doing everything she can to make sure this crisis doesn’t go to waste. Already she got $25 million for the Kennedy Center and many other goodies for unions and liberal causes.

But now she’s eyeing the next round of stimulus—and she’s demanding a “SALT shakeup” that could personally help the Speaker out. From Fox News:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is pushing for a new stimulus bill that would roll back the state and local tax deduction (SALT) cap, a proposal that would predominantly help wealthy individuals — including most residents in Pelosi’s district and perhaps even Pelosi herself.

Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.

Have you ever heard Nancy Pelosi suggest a tax cut? She stood firmly against Trump’s tax cuts that helped Americans so much.

But now, when things are tough, she wants to roll back the SALT cap—and it just happens to help out the wealthy the most. People like her.

Pelosi and her husband have a property tax liability of approximately $198,337.62 considering their two homes, a winery and two commercial properties, public records show, indicating that the couple could reap substantial benefits in the event of a full SALT repeal.

Wow, Nancy. You own a D.C. condo, a San Francisco home, home, a winery, and two commercial properties? Sounds like it’s about time for you to retire.

Because if you’re pushing for a tax break for rich folks during this time, it seems like you’ve lost focus on what Democrats stand for.

They’re supposed to take from the rich and give to the poor, right? Maybe with your net worth of over $10 million, you can use some of your personal dollars to help people out.

Instead of trying to use these relief bills to give the rich a boost.

When President Trump entered the White House, he had a bigger problem than anyone might have expected.

It turns out Obama really stacked the deck against him. He expanded the size of government to record, bloated levels.

Numerous offices had twice (or more) the number of staff than in previous administrations.

On top of that, Obama left behind loyalists, it turns out, weren’t fans of Trump. Many think men like Vindman and Sondland tried to paint Trump in a bad light during impeachment with their opinion, hard evidence.

But our President has been quietly busy draining the swamp. And he just finished draining 70 from a bloated organization.

Officials confirmed that Trump and national security adviser Robert O’Brien have cut 70 positions inherited from former President Barack Obama, who had fattened the staff to 200.

Talk about good news! You may have heard over the weekend how President Trump fired Alexander Vindman.

This member of the National Security Council appeared before the House impeachment inquiry. Vindman turned on Donald Trump—accusing him of “pressuring” Ukraine for a quid-pro-quo, based on his opinion.

Now Vindman’s gone. But that was only for starters. Trump got rid of Sondland, another man who testified against him.

Aaaaaaand 70 other D.C. swamp dwellers over the last 6 months!

Not only did Trump cut the bloated size of the office—saving taxpayers money—but he got rid of people who got their jobs from Obama.

These were people who have worked in government for years. It seems their loyalties are to the Democrats or just the insiders of D.C.

You might be wondering why Trump kept them around until now. Well, the man’s been busy! He’s been undoing the mess Obama made of this country over the last three years.

Maybe some of these swamp dwellers pretended to be allies—until the House launched its impeachment scheme.

Now the masks have come off—and Trump’s taken off his gloves. These seventy staffers might be the first of many.

The media is focusing all their time on the boring Senate impeachment trial, so, you probably won’t find out about this story in any mainstream media.

They’ve all but ignored Hunter Biden and his closet full of secrets. They regularly claim it’s all been disproved. Really?

Well this story could make Hunter look really bad.

Biden has been in a child support battle over in Arkansas. He recently refused a court order to give up his financial records.

But what is he doing in the meantime? Oh, nothing. Just renting out a swanky Hollywood house for $12,000 a month.

And not just any house.

Wow, this is pretty bad. Hunter Biden is fighting a case over a child a paternity test showed was his.

He doesn’t want to pay child suppport for his little one.

Yet he and his new wife are living in a million-dollar home in California. The rent price? Twelve thousand dollars a month.

If he’s fighting child support, does that mean Hunter can’t pay a mother a child support…

But he can afford this place?

This case is at the center of the impeachment trial, according to Republicans, yet neither Joe nor Hunter want to give any answers.

In an unusual step, because the case has not fully been heard in the lower courts,  the Supreme Court granted the Trump administration an appeal on DACA.

Trump is trying to end DACA and has been blocked by the lower courts. Now, and in the middle of the next election, the court will make a ruling.

This is huge news and is certainly not good for the Democrats. Look, one of the biggest criticism of the Democrats from the Hispanic community is they did not deliver on DACA.

They had the time and the votes under Obama, and they had a potential deal with Trump but Schumer caved. Certain segments of the Hispanic population has never forgiven them.

Now, this open wound will haunt them during the election and if the Supreme Court rules with Trump, believe me, the Democrats will get the blame for not getting it done.

If it rules for the Democrats, it won’t hurt Trump at all. In other words, Trump wins either way.

From Fox News: The Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether plans by the Trump administration to end the so-called DACA program for young undocumented immigrants can proceed.

The justices announced Friday they will hear oral arguments on the appeal in its next term, which begins in October. A ruling is expected in the presidential election year, putting the high court at the center of one of the most politically charged issues.

Federal appeals courts around the country have rejected efforts by the federal government to move ahead with phasing out the Obama-era program, known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA.

DACA was created under executive order, and gives some illegal immigrants — known as “Dreamers” — who were brought to the United States as children the opportunity to receive a renewable two-year reprieve from deportation and become eligible for a work permit.

The Trump administration in 2017 announced its plan to phase out the program, but federal courts have ruled that the phase-out could not apply retroactively and that the program should be restarted.

The White House fought back on those decisions, saying the president has broad authority over immigration enforcement policy.

DACA proponents have also argued that Trump’s planned termination of the program violates federal law requiring adequate notice-and-comment periods before certain federal rules are changed, as well as other constitutional equal protection and due process guarantees.

The Supreme Court took the unusual step of taking up the cases before they had been fully heard at the lower court level.

The Obama-era program to protect “Dreamers” will get a one-hour hearing before the high court next term. The court said it would consolidate three appeals into one argument.

The program provided temporary legal status and protection from deportation for nearly 800,000 young people who were brought to the U.S. without legal papers when they were children.

President Trump sought to revoke their protected status in 2017, seven months after taking office. The administration claimed in court that it could revoke the “Dreamers'” status anytime because the original Obama program was illegal. It also asserted that the courts had no power to review its decision.

Four federal appeals court subsequently rejected those arguments, and the Supreme Court earlier this month refused to expedite high court consideration of the cases.
